Bart Platteau grew up in Brussels, Belgium, studied classical flute and percussion at the Brussels Conservatory, then moved to the Netherlands to study Jazz at the Rotterdam Conservatory, and was an exchange student at Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1992.
At the end of 2010, Amina Figarova and Bart moved to New York City. He taught for about 12 years as principal jazz flute teacher at the Rotterdam Conservatory, and 18 years at a Music school in Roosendaaal, the Netherlands.
Bart is now working as a freelance musician, mainly performing with the Amina Figarova Sextet, traveling and performing all over the world.
