Lynne Stukart is an Award winning Flutist and highly respected Educator. She received her Masters in Music Performance, with an emphasis in Music History, from the University of Akron, where she was the Graduate Teaching Assistant to George Pope. Lynne holds two Bachelor’s degrees; one in Music and the second in Business, graduating with honors. As a professional flutist, praised for her “vibrant tone, lyricism and exquisite musicality”, Lynne has performed throughout the United States as well as Europe in Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France and England. She has been a winner in several competitions, including the prestigious National Flute Association Masterclass Competition on two separate occasions, and an invited NFA Convention Performer at several annual conventions. Lynne was the Graduate winner in the UA Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and performed the Nielson Concerto, receiving a standing ovation.
Lynne has been Principal Flute with the Akron Lyric Opera, Handel Oratorio Society, Summit Choral Society, and has also been a Soloist and Presenter for the Children’s Concert Society of Akron. She has appeared with many orchestras, including the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Canton Civic Opera, Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Galesburg Symphony Orchestra, Quad City Opera Orchestra and the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. Lynne’s main teachers have been Walter Haedrich (Quad City Symphony Orchestra, Emeritus), Walfrid Kujala (Chicago Symphony, Emeritus), Peter Lloyd (London Symphony Orchestra, Emeritus), George Pope (Akron Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Altus Artist), Angeleita Floyd (Northern Iowa University, NFA Distinguished Service Award) and Amy Porter (International recording Artist, University of Michigan). Lynne has also been fortunate to perform for some of the greatest Flutists and Teachers including flutists Jill Felber, Angeleita Floyd, Susan Milan, Eleanor Lawrence, Martha Aarons, Jeffery Zook, Sharon Sparrow, Walfrid Kujala, Gerald Carey, Marzio Conti, Goran Marcusson, Jacques Zoon, Rhonda Larson, Jeanne Baxtresser and Julius Baker. After hearing Lynne play, Julius Baker invited her to study with him in New York.
Lynne has been invited to teach at the Summer Music Institute “Study with the Masters” at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois by the request of Dr. John Murtery (New York City Opera, The Metropolitan Opera). She is currently on the Music Faculty of Black Hawk College and has also taught at Augustana College and The University of Akron in Ohio. Many of Lynne’s students have been selected as winners in competitions throughout the country, including All State Honors, and invited performances at Severance Hall in Cleveland and Carnegie Hall in New York City.
In addition to running a successful flute studio, Lynne is in high demand as an adjudicator and clinician, known for her enthusiastic and positive approach to music. Lynne is passionate about leading musicians of all ages and abilities to discover their personal best through excellent instruction, coaching and compassion. Lynne is also Founder and President of the Quad City Flute Association, www.QCFluteAssociation.com, and she is the Director of Piccolo Christmas.
