Alena Walentin is a flautist known for her versatile career, actively working as a soloist, chamber musician, freelance principal flute, workshop leader and teacher at several conservatoires.
She is an Altus Artist and a former Vice President of the British Flute Society. In 2020 Alena’s debut CD was chosen as "CD of the Week" by the Danish National Radio. She has played as a Principal flute with the ROH Covent Garden, London Concert Orchestra, Halle, London Mozart Players, Verbier Chamber Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and others.
She’s won several competitions and awards, including Wolfson Founation Award (UK), Neva Foundation award (Switzerland), the British Flute Society competition and the Kuhlau International Flute Competition. As a soloist performed duets and chamber music with Emmanuel Pahud, William Bennett, Lorna McGhee, Denis Bouriakov and others.
Alena regularly gives masterclasses and invited to teach chamber music, recently have given classes for the European Chamber Music Academy (Europe), National Flute Association (US), Escola Superior de Musica e Artes do Espectaculo (Portugal), Danish Flute Festival (Denmark), British School Tokyo (Japan) and others.
Alena Walentin is a flute chamber music teacher at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague (The Netherlands), Royal Danish Academy of Music (Denmark), Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (United Kingdom).
